Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy Says She Loves Hearing Feedback From Fans

Star Wars fans can be especially demanding, but it isn't anything that Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy can't handle. Sure, the Star Wars fanbase can be intense, however, as overwhelming as the negative comments can be, Kennedy says that she enjoys hearing all of the feedback that she gets from fans, both positive or negative.

Speaking in an interview with Yahoo! to talk about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and her career highlights, the Lucasfilm executive opens up about the intensity of the Star Wars fanbase.

While Kennedy says that negative feedback can really be "frustrating," the producer knows that seeing fans care so much about the franchise is what matters.

"I frankly love the feedback and frankly the criticism," she said, "You develop a little bit of an armor, but you learn from that. It's kind of like having a continual focus group that's out there telling you things, whether it's what you want to hear or you don't want to hear."

While Lucasfilm already has its plans for the Star Wars franchise, the producer admits that the studio doesn't really think that it knows all the solutions.

"We're just like the fans out there, we're just trying to find what's cool, what's heartfelt, what's strong storytelling and so I have to say - within reason - I love the feedback," Kennedy told the publication.

This might probably appease fans that have started to believe that the studio no longer really cares about their opinions about the different films in the franchise. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that the studio will immediately appeal to the fanbase's every whim – that doesn't give filmmakers any real creative control. Instead, the studio may want to take fans ideas' into consideration, and whether it fits into the story that Star Wars filmmakers want to tell.

Let's wait and see what kind of story Episode IX wants to tell.
