Lucasfilm May Release Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on Disney+ Next Month


Now that most of the world has been forced to stay at home as a means to flatten the curve of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Star Wars fans have been forced to turn to Disney+ for their latest Star Wars fix.

While most fans have been busying themselves with Star Wars: The Mandalorian, others have begun looking for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The third and final Star Wars sequel trilogy installment made its big premiere last December, culminating the entire Skywalker saga.

Disney may have yet to announce the Disney+ release of Episode IX, however, according to a report by Inverse, the film may very well land on Disney's brand new streaming site on May 4.

It doesn't sound entirely impossible. What better date to release The Rise of Skywalker on Disney+ than on May 4, Star Wars day?

Lucasfilm already scheduled the finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on May 4. The studio has also set May 4 as the release date of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, an eight-part Star Wars documentary series that delves into the making of Lucasfilm's very first Star Wars live-action series.

"What started as a fan-generated grassroots holiday, Star WarsDay has become a full-fledged celebration of the Star Wars saga embraced by the entire galaxy," Disney wrote in a press release announcing the documentary for The Mandalorian.

Adding in The Rise of Skywalker in Disney's roster of Star Wars movies and series would definitely be icing on top the of the cake.

Let's wait and see whether Episode IX makes it to Disney+ on May 4.
