Rogue One Almost Changed Iconic Han Solo Line

It looks like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story almost changed an iconic Star Wars line.

While the phrase "May the Force be with you" might be one of the most repeated lines in the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars fans all know that Han's bit going "I've got a bad feeling about this" comes in second place.

Both lines were used in Star Wars: A New Hope, and it's become a tradition to include the two in new Star Wars movies.

While Star Wars fans were pleasantly surprised to find Rogue One adding its own twist to the Force catchphrase by giving Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen) the chant "I am One with the Force and the Force is with me," they had no idea that Garreth Edward's writing team originally wanted to make a major change to Han Solo's "bad feeling" line.

IGN just recently hosted a Rogue One watch party together with the film's screenwriters Garry Whitta and Chris Weitz. During the discussion after the party, Whitta revealed that he and Weitz had actually planned on updating the iconic Han Solo phrase (via Cinema Blend)

"I had a different version of it where Jyn said, before they went on the mission they were always very nervous, Jyn said, ‘I've got a good feeling about this.' which we cut, and then ended up being... I wanted to reference it without actually saying the line. We ended up doing it in a different way," the writer revealed.

We're glad that Whitta and Weitz didn't push through with the update. It wouldn't have worked. "I've got a bad feeling about this," is just too iconic to change.

What do you think? Would "I've got a good feeling about this," have worked for Rogue One? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
