There's no doubt that the Star Wars universe is experiencing another resurgence in the last couple of years and thankfully, gone are the times when fans got so sick of the franchise as a whole, they wanted nothing to do with it *coughs in sequel trilogy*. Now, it looks like Lucasfilm will continue to cash in on the popularity of the LEGO Star Wars property. Aside from the upcoming video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga which fans have been anticipating, a new project is reportedly in development.

The good folks over at Giant Freakin Robot claim that Lucasfilm is developing a feature film for LEGO Star Wars. They also added that the project will be an original story instead of an adaptation of previous Star Wars films but it's still unclear where exactly in the timeline it takes place. As it stands, the production company has yet to confirm anything so take this rumor with a death star-sized grain of salt.

It'll be interesting to see how this alleged project will differ from the short films they've released in the past but considering the rumor claims that the characters will be voiced by their live-action counterparts, it would be safe to assume that Lucasfilm will create something more serious and substantial this time around that isn't exactly geared towards children. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens next.

Meanwhile, the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga video game is expected to drop sometime this year.
