Star Wars: Episode IX just began production yesterday, and fans couldn't be more excited to know that everyone's a bit closer to seeing the third and final sequel trilogy installment in cinemas.
However, while Episode IX has been slated to premiere on December 20 next year, ComicBook.com speculates that the film's release date could very well change. Sure the film might still be listed for a December 20 premiere on IMDb, however, it seems like recently released materials for Episode IX (like last weekend's press release listing down the film's official cast ) have all been noting a generalized "December 2019" release date for the film instead.
While the generalized date might turn out to be nothing to worry about, it's also possible that Lucasfilm might be thinking of moving the Episode IX's premiere date. A December 20 release date puts the film too close to the Christmas holidays, so the studio might be thinking of moving the film a week back to give it a head start like the rest of the films preceding it. The Force Awakens made its big debut on December 18, 2015. The Last Jedi, on the other hand, opened on December 15, 2017. If Lucasfilm really is thinking of rescheduling Episode IX's premiere, it might be along the same lines as The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
What do you think? Could Episode IX be getting an earlier premiere date? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
