The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Teaser Trailer Released During Super Bowl 2022


During Super Bowl 20222, Prime Video has released the first teaser trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the upcoming epic fantasy series that will dive into the story imagined by J.R.R. Tolkien but never fleshed out, and it gives us a look at the tale that will be told from the Second Age of Middle-Earth.

“What else is out there,” asks an unseen narrator as the trailer fades in. The teaser hints at the danger to come for the key characters of their varied lands, but story details have been kept under wraps. The prequel series to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings will show Sauron's (currently Mairon) rise to power.

Leading up to the big event, Vanity Fair shared an expansive first look at The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, showing us preview images of characters and the big budget production of the show. The series features a 22-person main cast and 7 names of the main characters have already been revealed.

"Before the King, before the Fellowship, before the Ring, a new Legend begins," the trailer teases as it gives us glimpses at what will be iconic moments in the show.

The cast of the series includes Joseph Mawle, Robert Aramayo, Morfydd Clark, Benjamin Walker, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Markella Kavenagh, Maxim Baldry, Ema Horvath, Nazanin Boniadi, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Trystan Gravelle, Peter Mullan, Augustus Prew, Charles Edwards, Lenny Henry, Alex Tarrant, Simon Merrells, Lloyd Owen, and Thusitha Jayasundera.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to release on Friday, September 2, 2022. The series pilot, Shadow of the Past, will be directed by J.A. Bayona.
