The God of Mischief is set to return in the MCU soon with Loki Season 2. Loki producer Stephen Broussard teased that Tom Hiddleston’s major role will continue the long-awaited “heroic arc” of the former MCU villain this second season.
With “He Who Remains” and his variant, Kang the Conqueror, out of the way (for now), Loki Season 1 had Sylvie (played by Sophia Di Martino) betraying the titular character in the end, leading to Loki Season 2 potentially encountering her again sometime in the future episodes, as confirmed that the actress will be returning to reprise her role. Now, here’s what Broussard has to say on what’s to happen this Season 2.
“I don’t wanna say too much. It’s very exciting. I think that team has done an amazing job,” Broussard said while recently speaking on the D23 Inside Disney podcast, “I think the most exciting thing to tease is, going back to our conversations earlier about characters, is just kind of watching Tom [Hiddleston] and watching Loki’s journey. Like a continuing journey.”

“[Loki] was always a little bit of this outsider in Asgard in the royal palace there and I think Loki Season 1 was about discovering that he could be more,” Broussard continued, “And I think Season 2 will continue that in unexpected ways. So I’m excited for people to go on that journey with Loki in the hands of Tom [Hiddleston], who is one of the most amazing actors that I’ve ever had the good fortune of working with. I think audiences will be excited to see what else he can do with this character.”
While Loki Season 1 is technically Loki’s redemption arc or his “second chance at life” in the TVA, his story is not quite done yet. Here, Broussard is hinting at Loki’s greater purpose and that will be unveiled once the episodes start rolling. How will Loki’s heroic arc end? And should he pursue this path, will he stick to the end or will he end up crawling back to his antagonistic endeavor?
Loki Season 2 has no official release date yet, but is reportedly releasing this Fall 2023 on Disney+. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
