The fourth episode of Loki season 2 ended with a massive cliffhanger as it saw the explosion of the temporal loom and the characters have nothing to do but watch the catastrophe unfold right before their eyes.

It prompted a lot of questions among fans about what will happen in the next two episodes. Is the TVA and the sacred timeline officially over? Did they survive the explosion? Or it's all just a time paradox?

There are a lot of questions that the last two episodes of the season have to address considering the massive stake that they just set themselves with the twist and its set-up to the remaining chapters of the Multiverse Saga.

In an interview with The Wrap, Loki season 2 executive producer Kevin Wright teased what's next for the characters of the series and the entire MCU following the explosion of the temporal loom at the end of the fourth episode.

"Look with what happens at the end of four, we don’t know where anybody is, or where they’re going, or if they’re alive," he said.

"I think the thing that I would say is, if we were able to get back to that TVA, do Renslayer and Miss Minutes know what needs to be done to get time and reality back on track? Is Victor a key element to that? I mean, obviously they felt like he was for the TVA."

While he didn't say the fate of the sacred timeline or the entire MCU multiverse following the twist, he did hint that a "war" is still imminent regardless of the outcome as the entire reality is still in danger no matter what.

"I would suggest that maybe reality is in even graver danger now. Because even without Victor Timely, the warning still holds true: war is coming. The TVA, in Loki’s opinion, was the only thing that maybe stood between that war and reality crumbling," Wright added.

"If somehow they are able to get reality back after episode four, I would say they still have a very serious problem to deal with. And they maybe have just lost a very valuable tool in Victor Timely, who was essential to getting that mission on track."

Recently, Marvel Studios released the mid-season trailer for the second season where they hinted at the return of Loki's time-slipping and potential visits to various timelines, which suggests that the problem might be fixable.

It is exciting to see how they will continue the story of the season and whether there's yet another twist they have in store or perhaps the events that we saw in the recent episode were all misleading.

After all, the concept of "ouroboros" remained a vital theme throughout the season and that could be a pivotal clue as we go through the next two episodes.

New episodes of the second season of Loki premiere every Thursday night on Disney+.
