The second episode of Loki season 2 started with Loki and Mobius arriving at 1977 London in the sacred timeline as part of their search for Sylvie. They found themselves in a theatre for the premiere of the new horror film titled The Zaniac!

It was revealed that X-5 has been living the life of a movie star named Brad Wolfe. During the premiere, he was cornered by Loki and Mobius and asked for Sylvie's whereabouts.

A chase ensued within the streets nearby. Eventually, X-5 was caught by Loki thanks to his magic (in case you forgot, it works in the real world but not within the TVA) and they brought him back as a prisoner into the TVA headquarters.

After a couple of interrogation and torture attempts, X-5 admitted that Sylvie was living a new life in 1982 Oklahoma in a branched timeline and he gave up on his mission after finding her as he wanted the taste of a normal life.

Through the character of X-5, Brad Wolfe/Zaniac has finally made character of X-5, Brad Wolfe/Zaniac has finally made his debut in the MCU although in a different way as he wasn't presented as an actual character.

In the comics, Brad Wolfe was an actor who was mutated because of a radiation explosion while working on a movie about a serial killer named Zaniac. He was also simultaneously possessed by a demonic entity and believed that he was the real Zaniac.

However, for the MCU version, they turned him into an easter egg and Brad Wolfe became X-5's persona in the real world who was also starring in a movie about a mutated being called Zaniac.

Long-time Marvel Comics fans might be happy with this reference since this is an acknowledgment of an obscure character that may not be as popular as the other villains, but he was still recognized in a fun and unique way even if it's not an actual character in the MCU.

New episodes of the second season of Loki premiere every Thursday night on Disney+.
