Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Release Date: When Will the Movie Come Out?
From the classic 2002 animated show Lilo & Stitch comes the live-action adaptation of the Hawaii-centric story of the titular characters and it is currently slated for a 2024 release on Disney Plus! Are you excited for the arrival of the movie?
Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Cast: Who are the Actors Included in the Movie?
Much like that in the 2002 animated classic, the characters of the live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch is pretty much the same to the original.
The casting for Lilo & Stitch has been all over the news in April as newcomer Maia Kealoha has been tapped to play the role of Lilo while Chris Sanders is expected to voice the lovable alien, Stitch, once more.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tia Carrere, who originally voiced Nani, has been tapped to play a new character, Mrs. Kekoa.
In addition to Carrere, Amy Hill, who voiced Mrs. Hasagawa in the original animated series, will be suiting up as a new character named Tūtū.
In the same report, it was revealed that while Kahiau Machado was bound to suit up as the love interest of Nani, David Kawena, he has been recast because of his usage of racial slurs on his Spotify playlist.
Thus, Kaipot Dudoit has been tapped to play David in the upcoming live-action adaptation.
Sydney Elizabeth Agudong joins the cast as Nani, the big sister of Lilo. Jolene Purdy will play the role of a child services agent, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
Before all of them were announced, it is Zach Galifianakis who was first revealed to join the cast in February 2023. His role remains undisclosed but a report from The Wrap says that Galifianakis would voice Pleakley.
Billy Magnussen from No Time to Die is also getting a role in the live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch as per Deadline but his character remains undisclosed.
The most recent addition to the cast of the live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch is Emmy and Tony-award winner Courtney B. Vance who will be playing the role of Cobra Bubbles, a former CIA Agent, as per Deadline.

Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Crew: Who are the Creative Minds Behind the Scene?
When it was announced that Lilo & Stitch live-action remake would happen, the first one attached to the project is the writer of the movie, Mike Van Waes.
However, recent developments revealed that it would be Chris Kekaniokalani Bright who would now pen the script for the live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch.
The producers of the movie with Rideback, previously known as Lin Pictures, who are Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich who are no strangers to Disney's live-action remakes for being behind Aladdin. Ryan Halprin will also co-produce.
Being a movie about family because, Ohana, Lilo & Stitch scores a family-friendly director with Dean Fleischer Camp who will be taking helm on the project.
It was rumored in 2020 that it was Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu who was in talks to direct but announcement of Camp helming Lilo & Stitch sealed the deal for good.
As per Knight Edge Media, Lilo & Stitch has the working title of Bad Dog which is a perfect fit to describe stitch.
The filming recently started in Oahu, Hawaii and it is expected to end in eight to ten weeks time.
In a clip shared by Reel News Hawaii, it reveals an actual stand i for Stitch while riding a jet ski so a jet ski scene is to be expected in the movie.
Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Plot: What Will The Movie Be About?
There is no official synopsis yet for Lilo & Stitch but it is expected to follow the same story as the original animated 2002 feature.
Lilo & Stitch will follow the story set in Hawaii between a human girl, Lilo, who is lonely bullied by other kids like Mertle, and Stitch, a dog-like alien known as Experiment 626 who is made as a force of destruction.
Stitch ended up in Hawaii after he fled the scientist who created him and there, Lilo adopted him to be her pet, thus having the love for the style of Elvis.
In their free time, Lilo learns to dance Hula but she often gets bullied by other girls led by Mertle.
Taking care of Lilo is her older sister, Nani, whose love interest is her friend, David Kawena, a cool surfer.
Social workers often visit Lilo as they observe Nani taking care of her younger sister and with Stitch in the picture, there are others who are looking for him as well.
Cobra Bubbles and Mrs. Kekoa are just some of the social workers observing their family. Also in their household are Jumba and Pleakly.
Meanwhile, there is also Gantu, a former captain of the Galactic Federation, who has always been in pursuit of Stitch.
Together, Lilo & Stitch teaches the viewers a sense of family and the unbreakable bond of Ohana.
Where to Watch Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Remake?
While there is no definitive release date yet, Lilo & Stitch is currently lined up among the 2024 releases on Disney Plus where the streaming platform will exclusively be the home of the live-action adaptation.

Is There a Trailer for Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Remake?
Unfortunately, there is no trailer yet for Lilo & Stitch as it is still too early for one given that the movie is still under production and filming.
Once it finishes filming, there would still be visual effects added to Lilo & Stitch especially with Stitch being a CGI version in the live-action adaptation.
Given the timeline, the trailer could be expected by late 2023 or early 2024 at the most considering that Lilo & Stitch live-action remake is currently tabled for a 2024 release on Disney Plus.
