Light, Darkness, and Big Hero 6 in The Latest Kingdom Hearts III Trailer

Pretentious pretty boys? Check. Conversations about light and darkness? Double check. More Disney cameos that probably won't affect the main story? All of the checks in the world.

We've got a new Kingdom Hearts III trailer alright, this time coming from the recent Tokyo Game Show (TGS). Square Enix has also released the official cover art for the game and it looks in line with the designs used for previous installments in the beloved series. Take a gander at the art below and wonder why the storyline can't be as simple or clean.

As we draw closer to the launch of #KingdomHearts III we'd like to show you all the cover art for the game!

The cover art is really interesting since it features Sora, Riku, Kairi, Ventus, Aqua, Terra, Roxas, Axel, Xion, and Namine. That's right, both Ventus and Roxas are in the cover of the game, which means they will definitely play a big part in the game.

Sora actually catches a glimpse of Roxas and his friends from Twilight Town during his trip to San Fransokyo with Big Hero 6. We also see Vanitas talking to the comatose body of Ventus, which we last saw in Birth by Sleep so it's nice to see some continuity in this ridiculously convoluted series.

If that wasn't enough for fans, it looks like Riku will be joining Aqua to the dark side, which may or may not turn people off. For those that are getting the game for gameplay purposes, this isn't a huge shocker but fans who were invested in this long-winded story might take umbrage with these developments.

Thankfully, we also have plenty of great gameplay clips of Sora and the gang kicking a lot of butts. Combat looks really fun, with Sora pulling off some amazingly ridiculous anime moves thanks to the power of the Keyblade. Players can also take selfies with Sora because every game needs that feature. It does make the game feel lighter like the story's tone should be, but fans should have a good time with this feature.

Kingdom Hearts III will be available on PS4 and Xbox One next year, on January 29, 2019.
