Liam Neeson has ruled out the possibility of making his live-action return as Qui-Gon Jinn in the Star Wars franchise.

The Oscar-nominated actor famously portrayed the Jedi Master in The Phantom Menace and subsequently made appearances in various animated shows where he reprised the character through voice performance.

Fans last saw the fan-favorite character in the final episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi where he made a cameo appearance through Force ghost and it made them wonder whether he would show up again in the future.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Neeson was asked whether he is interested in making his return to the Star Wars franchise in either live-action or animation.

He responded by saying that he has ruled out the possibility of a live-action return due to his old age.

"I enjoyed very much being with Ewan [McGregor] and George Lucas on The Phantom Menace. We shot that 26 years ago! Would I do it again? I don't think so. Too f****** old, ya know? I can't see the situation, I really can't, you know?" Neeson said.

Neeson is currently 71 years old, but he still very much has an active acting career as he continues to star in multiple action-thriller films.

This is discouraging news for fans of the franchise since it looks like they no longer need to look forward to more live-action Qui-Gon Jinn appearances in any of the future projects.

However, Neeson did not rule out the possibility of reprising the role through voice work so he has not completely retired from the role and we might still see him play the character in an animated series.

Hopefully, we will hear some news soon regarding Neeson's potential Star Wars return and it will be the kind of project that fans will be hyped at.
