Star Wars fans might be hoping to see Liam Neeson return as Qui-Gon Jinn in Lucasfilm's new Obi-Wan Kenobi series, but it seems like the Schindler's List actor isn't interested in appearing in a Star Wars or Batman movie.
Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Academy Award-nominated actor was asked whether he would want to return to the comic book movies any time soon. Unfortunately, it seems like the actor has very little interest in returning to the genre, saying that it's just "Hollywood with all the bells and whistles and the technical achievements and stuff."
As much as Neeson admires the work put into creating Star Wars and comic book movies, he has "no desire to go into the gym for three hours every day to pump myself up to squeeze into a Velcro suit with a cape."
"I admire the actors and I know some of the actors who do it -- and do it fantastically. It's just not my genre, it really isn't. The first Star Wars, I was in that, that was 22 years ago, and I enjoyed that, because it was novel and that was new," the actor went on, "I was acting to tennis balls, which were ultimately going to be little fuzzy furry creatures and stuff. That was interesting, acting-wise, to try and make that seem real, but that was the last. It's quite exhausting."
It's definitely a shame that Neeson no longer has any interest in the comic book genre, but we do understand that the actor doesn't have the same energy to act in physically-demanding films for Star Wars or for DC.
We wonder whether Neeson would agree to a small cameo in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series that Lucasfilm's developing for Disney+. Let's wait and see.
