LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales Unveils New 'Shining' Poster

Like an enormous LEGO set in its own right and one that knows no limits, Star Wars continues to expand. Recent weeks have seen the unveiling of brand-new shows such as Star Wars: Visions, and new trailers for video games like Star Wars: Hunters and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. But there's even more happening on the LEGO side of things, such as LEGO Star Wars Halloween Shorts and LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales, a short film headed for Disney+. Now, a new poster has been unveiled for the piece, which celebrates horror film The Shining in all its glory. Check it out below:

This isn't the first time LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales has made a reference to Stanley Kubrick's landmark horror movie - the trailer has plenty of Easter eggs for other spooky flicks like The Fly, but none stand out more than the end scene, in which a Battle droid is chopping down a door with an ax, before saying "Here's B14961138"! The new short film is clearly set to do what LEGO Star Wars does best - parody all things from the faraway galaxy, but this time also drawing on many iconic horror movies in the process, and we can't wait to see what else is in store!

The poster also reads, "Come play with us" - a chilling line lifted straight from The Shining, spoken by dead twins who haunt the long hallways of the Overlook Hotel. What other horrors might be referenced in the upcoming LEGO Star Wars comedy? A Nightmare On Elm Street? Wouldn't Freddy Krueger make a great Sith Lord? Scream? What's your favorite scary Wookie? Halloween? The night Darth Vader came home! Either way, it will be a lot of fun to pull the mini-movie apart piece by piece as we search for Easter eggs and all other kinds of references.

The short film will follow suit with the likes of last year's The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, which was set after the sequel trilogy and used a bit of time travel to enjoy several iconic moments from throughout The Skywalker Saga (you could argue that it included Star Wars' very own Multiverse in doing so). Now, LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales is continuing the holiday tradition, except this time it's the spooky season, and things aren't what they seem in the faraway galaxy.

The movie takes place after The Rise of Skywalker and will include characters such as Poe Dameron, BB-8, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Darth Maul, Mother Talzin, and lots more. A series of LEGO Star Wars sets will also release alongside the new short film, while the upcoming video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will explore all nine Episodes, allowing players to 'drop in' at any point along the timeline established in the three movie trilogies. Needless to say, it's a busy time for all things LEGO Star Wars. Check out the trailer for LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales below:

LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales premieres on Disney+ on October 1. In the meantime, check out the new anime anthology series, Star Wars: Visions - which is a nice break from the live-action and canonical side of the faraway galaxy.
