The Marvel Cinematic Universe might have gained quite a following over the years with its slew of fun-filled, quippy, and intense comic book movies, but not everyone's a fan of what Marvel Studios does. Sure, Marvel movies are sure-fire winners at the box office, but detractors like legendary Fiddler on the Roof and Salvation star Bette Middler aren't as convinced by the franchise.
Speaking in an interview with Variety, the onstage and onscreen legend Bette Middler opened up about her everyday routine, saying that while she'd like to, she doesn't really read too many scripts these days because no one of them have that much originality. While the actress does admit that she would do a comic book movie as long as she doesn't have to bring the coffee, Midler says she doesn't really enjoy watching Marvel movies all that much.
"I don't really, to tell you the truth," Midler said. "They're unbearably loud. They make such a racket. They don't really have any decent dialogue. And there's a lot of explosions. Now I don't know about you, but I don't really like explosions. I'm not really an action fan. I think it's something for young men. They like noise."
The comments might seem like they come from a more traditional and old-timey individual, but honestly, everyone has different tastes. Sure, Marvel might have found the winning formula for comic book movies, but there are others who don't really enjoy the excessive levity sprinkled in Marvel's different entries, preferring darker, and more serious films.
