Black Widow Will Start Shooting This June

The Black Widow film is finally underway, and it's high time that original Avenger Natasha Romanoff took to the spotlight. We've just gotten some great casting news yesterday with David Harbour and possibly Rachel Weisz joining the crew, and now we have info on the production start date.

According to Discussing Film, Black Widow is set to start rolling cameras this coming June 10. We don't have that much info on the movie yet, but I suspect that Marvel Studios will give us their official slate of films right after the release of Avengers: Endgame later this month.

It's still unclear what we should expect from the Black Widow film. Some say that it will be an origin story based on Widow's participation during the Cold War era, but I wouldn't be object to a contemporary film as well. Rumor also has it that Widow will be going up against the Taskmaster—a supervillain who has the power to mimic the physical movements of anyone he sees, making him one of the most formidable hand-to-hand fighters out there.

Again, this is just a rumor, and the movie could come out as something completely different.

Since Black Widow's debut in the MCU, she has mostly played second fiddle to the likes of Iron Man and Captain America. Seeing as she's usually one of the smartest people in the room, it would be interesting to see what kind of movie Marvel has in store for her down the line.

No release date has been set for Black Widow yet, but with a production date set for June, we could be looking at a 2020 release.
