Lee Sung Kyung Workout Routine: How To Achieve A Slender Body Like The Shooting Star Actress

Lee Sung Kyung definitely looked stunning in her K-drama comeback, Shooting Stars with Kim Young Dae.

The model-actress wowed viewers with her stunning physique, wearing trendy smart casual pieces as she played the role of PR head Oh Han Byul.

Unlike her smash hit K-drama Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, the actress makes heads turn with her beauty despite her character being stressed and overwhelmed with projects as she works alongside top star Gong Tae Sung, played by Kim Young Dae.

Curious about how the 31-year-old actress maintains her slim physique, the secret to her slender figure is working out and eating right.

Lee Sung Kyung Workout Routine

During her appearance in JTBC's Please Take Care of My Refrigerator, she pointed out that she would never starve herself to maintain her figure.

As obtained by AllKpop, she said, "I fear that if I starve myself, there will be a yo-yo [effect], so I slowly and deliciously enjoy healthy cooking."

Instead, the actress would rather eat whatever she wants moderately and take time to burn it through exercise.

Lee Sung Kyung's workout routine includes a lot of core drills.

"I do core workouts that raise my basic metabolism rate," she added.

Interestingly, it's not always about working out, but also Dr. Romantic 2 star also pays attention to her diet.

The one thing that she never liked was salty foods and highlighted its effects–which is bloating.

She said that she used to like them when she was young but noticed how her body reacts to them when she binges on these types of food.

Aside from salty foods, she also veers away from eating too much flour because it also makes her bloat.

Surprisingly, she has a love-hate relationship with kimchi. As mentioned by the actress, "I don't eat kimchi often, either. When I was young, a teacher tried to regulate my eating, so I was forced to eat it; due to that trauma, I didn't eat it," she explained, adding "I do eat things like kimchi fried rice, but if [the kimchi pieces] are too big, I take them out."

Probably one of the best K-dramas of 2016 is the coming of age series Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, where Lee Sung Kyung stars in the titular role with fellow lead Nam Joo Hyuk.

However, portraying the role of an athlete means she had to undergo rigid training.

According to Soompi, she purposely gained weight to play a college weightlifter.

Lee Sung Kyung mentioned that people noticed that she added a few pounds while filming the Kdrama, and there were even articles saying that she became heavier than usual.

She pointed out that this is to match the character of Bok Joo, but her weight peaked during the middle of the series, adding, "I even thought about not losing the weight since my body had become muscular due to weightlifting."

Unfortunately, there are downsides to gaining weight in a short period of time. Lee Sung Kyung revealed that it got so bad that she "became addicted to carbs" and had stretch marks.

"I did feel a bit sad knowing that stretch marks don't go away easily, but those thoughts disappeared once I was playing Bok Joo again," she added.

Now she's back on track as the actress displayed her slim and jaw-dropping physique in Shooting Stars and her recent appearance with Elle Magazine Korea.
