Lee Seung Gi's agency, Hook Entertainment, has broken its silence over the issue that it hasn't paid the artist for his music for the past 19 years since he debuted in 2004.

Dispatch broke the news that after releasing 27 albums and 137 songs, Lee Seung Hi hasn't received any revenue from his agency. The publication claimed the 35-year-old made 9.6 billion won or about $7.069 million from October 2009 to September 2022 but didn't receive any.

Lee Seung Gi's Profit

The figure came from a statement of profit by distribution channel shared by Dispatch, via Soompi.

It also revealed that five years' worth of statements, from June 2004 to August 2009, was missing, resulting in assumptions that Hook received more than 10 billion won or about $7.364 million from the distributors.

Amid the claims, the company's CEO, Kwon Jin Young, released an official statement to address everything about it.

"As bad stories have been coming out about me and our agency from news outlets recently, regardless of whether they are true, I am so ashamed," he said. "Everything is due to my negligence and lack of discretion, so I feel ashamed and apologetic."

The agency neither denied nor confirmed the claim, asking for understanding that it's still fact-checking.

"We are refraining from releasing a statement of our position because this could be dealt with legally," he continued.

Lee Seung Gi Requests for Transparent Disclosure of Payments

Meanwhile, earlier this month, reports emerged that Lee Seung Gi sent a certification of contents to Hook to request for transparent disclosure of payments.

The agency's office building was recently seized and searched by the Severe Crime Investigation Division of the National Police Agency due to some executives' embezzlement suspicions.

For starters, Lee Seung Gi dropped his first album, The Dream of a Moth, in 2004. Sadly, he hasn't been paid since then, though it excludes his acting and variety show appearances.

Hence, he's said to be working under a slave contract with Hook, making him a victim of the company's gaslighting.
