Several days after they tied the knot, Lee Seung Gi broke his silence over the rumors surrounding his and Lee Da In's marriage. In a couple of lengthy posts on Instagram on Wednesday, April 12, the singer addressed the misinformation several media outlets released and apologized to his fans.
Since Lee Seung Gi announced his decision to marry Lee Da In, many have raised their eyebrows due to the controversies involving the latter's family. But despite that, the wedding still pushed through on April 9.
Lee Seung Gi's First Lengthy Statement
In his first lengthy statement, as translated by AllKpop, the 36-year-old discussed how the public's opinion turned 360 degrees when he announced his then-upcoming marriage to Lee Da In.
"When I donated the 5 billion KRW (3.8 million USD) that I received from my former agency in December last year, I received praise from the public," he said. "After announcing my marriage to my wife, Lee Da In, the public opinion flipped."

Though he strongly believed that the public was always right, he sometimes found it "unjust."
"For example, when the public is misinformed. 'He (Lee Dan In's father) embezzled 26 billion KRW through stock manipulation, and there are 300,000 victims'? This is obvious misinformation. I don't know where the reporters and YouTubers got this information, but it is completely unfounded," he explained.
Filing a Legal Complaint and Clearing Other Claims
Lee Seung Go continued that Lee Da In's parents had already taken legal action against five media outlets, Sports Kyunghyang, Ten Asia, Xports News, Celeb Media, and Wikitree, that reported the news to Press Arbitration Commission.
The organization asked the said outlets to release a correction report.
The actor then cleared the claims about receiving product sponsorship at his wedding, stressing nothing like that happened.

He then called out the reporters who didn't even contact him to fact-check the rumors before releasing articles about it.
From there, he revealed the reporters connected with Hook Entertainment executives and intentionally wrote negative news about Lee Da In's father and threatened him.
Lee Seung Gi Apologizes to Fans
In another post, Lee Seung Gi apologized to his fans, who were hurt by all the controversies.
"I am sorry," he stated. "I heard that you were hurt by the flood of articles about me. That's why one fan even asked me to stop the marriage. I once again bow my head and apologize."
He then revealed others who asked him to break up with Lee Da In, admitting he felt frustrated knowing his now-wife had nothing to do with her parents' issues.

"Even before getting married, my wife and I made a promise that we will repay while we live. We will help those in need," he continued.
"We will keep this promise regardless of the negative comments... Many people came to the wedding to congratulate us. I want to thank them sincerely," Lee Seung Gi added. "While thinking about a way to return our gratitude, we came to the conclusion that it would be more meaningful if we used the gift money for children in difficult circumstances. We plan to use all of the congratulatory gift money to support children in need."
