Lee Je Hoon revealed that his Taxi Driver character, Kim Do Ki, surprised him as he played the role.

Based on the webcomic The Deluxe Taxi, the hit Kdrama series tells the story of the cab company, Rainbow Taxi Company, that offers a service to take revenge for its clients. Lee Je Hoon's Kim Do Ki, a taxi driver and a former Special Forces officer, helps them seek justice as he defends the victims of violence and injustice.

Lee Je Hoon's Taxi Driver Character Unleashes Actor's Never-Before-Seen Side

Lee Je Hoon sat for an interview with The Korea Times on Monday and discussed his character, Kim Do Ki.

According to the actor, his character is originally a quiet person. However, he seems extreme whenever he disguises himself. Despite that, he said he feels grateful since people enjoy watching the character and do not see it as something awkward.

Lee Je Hoon added that he feels great to be able to expand his acting scope. As for the reason why his character surprised him, he shared how his shortcomings did not outshine the newly-discovered sides in him.

"(Playing this character,) it surprised me like 'oh I didn't realize that I had this side in me.' This series is meaningful as it gave me the courage to show a different, wide range of characters," he went on. "Creating a lot of sub-characters throughout two seasons, I've come to realize my flaws and limits … I feel like I've used up all my resources with season two, and I'm starting to think about how I could fill up again."

Taxi Driver Brings Lessons to Viewers

As Taxi Driver highlights the victims of several issues due to the "blind spots" in South Korea's legal system, Lee Je Hoon felt like the Kdrama series' story made the franchise successful.

Fans greatly responded to the series since it began, and it made the actor hope the series would continue to explore the means to prevent such events from happening in real life.

Taxi Driver successfully caught viewers' hearts. Its first season recorded a 16 percent rating, while the second season obtained a whopping 21 percent.
