December wasn’t always designed to spread holiday cheer and if you want to watch something different for the yuletide season, Netflix's post-apocalyptic thriller, Leave the World Behind, might be your cup of tea.
Who Plays Julia Roberts' Son in Leave the World Behind?
Starring alongside Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Kevin Bacon, and Mahershala Ali is Charlie Evans playing Julia's older son, Archie Sandford.
Charlie Evans is relatively a newcomer in Hollywood. Before landing his first major Netflix role, Charlie played the part of Leonard for five episodes in the 2020 series Everything's Gonna Be Okay.
In Leave the World Behind, Charlie Evans' Archie has had more screen time as the older brother of his sister in the film, Rose Sandford.
Opposite his sister who notices the lurking deers amid the ongoing cyberattack, Archie acts as the typical brother who doesn't believe a word his sister says.
Although there are times when Archie surprises the adults with his ability to read other languages, things take a turn for the worse for Archie from that point forward.

What is Netflix's Leave the World Behind About?
While many viewers couldn't understand the ending of Leave the World Behind, the film director Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot) explained to Digital Spy that it was all a part of his plan.
"Like in life, we have to face ambiguities all the time," Esmail said, "That was essential to [Rumaan Alam's book the movie is based on] and central to what I wanted to do in the film — there are no easy answers and solutions and we have to face that and go on regardless."
Considering that the cyber attack and the collision between two different families are the story's main themes, the ending leaves its viewers on the edge about what the journey means for them.

A family's (Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke) vacation is upended when two strangers (Mahershala Ali and Myha'la) arrive at night, seeking refuge from a cyberattack that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.
