A new Avengers team is expected to be introduced soon and who will lead this new generation of Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes has just been revealed.
According to We Got This Covered, Captain Marvel will indeed be the leader of the new version of Avengers. This does not come as a shock since Marvel Studios said as much prior to the release of the character's solo film.
"Captain Marvel is about to take the lead and be the forefront of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said back in December.
The Marvel honcho has also noted in the past that Captain Marvel is indeed the most powerful MCU hero at the moment, even though fans will argue that Thor holds that title.
In the book Captain Marvel: The Official Movie Special, he practically made the declaration as he recalled the time he introduced Larson as Carol Danvers at Comic-Con.
"Having her come out on stage and stand there with literally almost everybody else from our movies. There she was at the forefront. And it was a great foreshadowing – not just for how audiences are going to embrace Brie as this character, but also for how Captain Marvel is about to take the lead and be at the forefront of the entire Cinematic Universe."
The sources that spoke to the abovementioned site are already making concrete steps to make that happen. A new iteration of the team will reportedly be dubbed the New Avengers with Carol Danvers taking charge. In an unconfirmed leak, it was revealed that the New Avengers film will be out in May 2022. A few months before that will be the Captain Marvel sequel.
Apart from the New Avengers, Marvel is also reportedly looking to introduce the Young Avengers as well. There's no word on who will be the members of the team, but Avengers: Endgame teased the possibility of Scott and Clint's daughters being part of the team.
