Lea Thompson Wants to Direct an MCU Howard The Duck Reboot

Before the MCU, hell before the early X-Men and Spider-Man movies, there was a Howard the Duck movie. The movie was produced by Star Wars legend George Lucas and is a pretty bad movie, though some would argue that it's so bad it's good, though it's easy to see why Marvel hasn't brought the franchise back, despite revealing him at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy.

One person who would like to bring the character back from obscurity is Back to the Future actress Lea Thompson, who starred in the film. Thompson told The Inquisitr that she will be meeting with Marvel in a few weeks and is planning to pitch her version of a Howard the Duck reboot.

"Oh my god, from your lips to God's ears. I don't know. To tell you the actual truth, I am going to Marvel to pitch ‘Howard the Duck,' a new movie."

Viewers will be able to see her directing prowess in action soon via The Year of Spectacular Men. If she impresses critics and/or Marvel Studios, we might actually see a new MCU movie featuring the talking duck from a different universe.

It's worth noting that Thompson did appear in an issue of Chip Zdarsky's well-received Howard the Duck comic book series. The actress does want to redeem the character, which is admirable at best.

Howard the Duck isn't scheduled for any future appearances, so don't expect to see him in May's Avengers 4.
