Lana Condor Joins The Cast of Alita: Battle Angel


X-Men: Apocalypse actress Lana Condor has joined the cast of Alita: Battle Angel, Deadline reports. The film is based on Yukito Kushiro's Battle Angel Alita manga.

The 19-year-old Vietnamese actress who played Jubilee in Bryan Singer's latest X-Men film joins Rosa Salazar, Jackie Earle Haley, Ed Skrein, Eiza Gonzalez and Christoph Waltz in the film. Condor is playing Kiyomi in the film. Luke Cage'sMahershala's Ali is also in talks to join the cast.

The futuristic film will tell the story of Alita (Salazar), an amnesiac female cyborg who is saved from a scrapyard by a doctor (Waltz). The rebuilt Alita, remembering only her training in a deadly martial art, becomes a hunter-warrior who track down and eliminate vicious criminals.

The manga-inspired film will be directed Sin City filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, and it's being produced by James Cameron.

Production is expected to startthis month in Austin, Texas. Alita: Battle Angel is will hit theaters on July 20, 2018.
