KonoSuba is back, and with its new season comes new collaborations. One such collab is an unexpected KonoSuba crossover with a cabbage field in Japan.

Anime collaborations with Japanese cities or towns aren’t new, but this might be the first time that a place being highlighted is a cabbage farm.

It may seem random at first, but it makes a lot of sense given how cabbages were a memorable part of one KonoSuba episode.

Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for KonoSuba season 1, so proceed with caution.

What’s up with KonoSuba and Cabbages?

Back in KonoSuba season 1, the alarm was sounded in the city of Axel, meaning capable adventurers in the city mobilized to help defend it from a major threat.

To Kazuma’s surprise, the threat turns out to be an army of flying cabbage monsters instead of the Devil King's army. It also turns out that this is a regular harvest event for Axel.

Kazuma and his newfound party performed well in the harvest, with Aqua proving to be surprisingly useful thanks to her water magic helping keep the cabbages fresh.

Given that this moment is a memorable part of the anime’s first season, it makes sense that this part of the story is being revisited via the show’s latest collab.

To be exact, this collaboration turns Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness into official cabbage ambassadors for Tsumagoi Village.

KonoSuba Announces Cabbage Field Collab in Gunma Prefecture

This collaboration was initially announced in AnimeJapan 2024 back in March. Now though, more details about the campaign have been revealed, including the official collab visual.

The new visual shows Darkness, Kazuma, Aqua, and Megumin in casual wear, complete with t-shirts bearing the collab’s cute flying cabbage logo. In the background are cabbage fields in Tsumagoi village.

While Tsumagoi is a small village in Gunma Prefecture that only has a population of around 9,000, it is a notable agricultural village, with cabbage being its best-known crop.

What to Expect in KonoSuba’s Cabbage Crossover

Along with the visual, commission letters from the village were also shared on the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter), which certify that Kazuma and his party are now official cabbage ambassadors for the village.

For now, it’s confirmed that the collab will highlight some of the notable places in Tsumagoi by way of photos with plush toys of Kazuma and a flying cabbage.

More details about the collab will be shared soon, though it’s likely that aside from potential tourism, the collaboration may also feature promotions for products such as food made with Tsumagoi village cabbage.
