Knives Out: New Trailer Dropped for TLJ Director’s Murder Mystery

Rian Johnson is probably best known now for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and before he gets to work on his own original Star Wars trilogy for Lucasfilm, he's come up with this star-studded murder mystery in the form of Knives Out. A new trailer has just dropped for the film, and it gives us way thrills than the first preview.

When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan's dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan's untimely death.

From the get-go, you can already get a lot of influence from Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express. Even Daniel Craig's detective character has a unique name with Benoit Blanc (much like Hercule Poirot). Let's just hope this movie doesn't take a leaf out of the last adaptation and have everyone be the murderer.

After working on The Last Jedi, a lot of people see this as Johnson coming back to form. If anything, it feels a lot like his smaller films like Brick and Looper. Then again, you can't expect every director to work on a blockbuster one after the other. Even Michael Bay had to make other films between Transformers.

Catch Knives Out when it hits theaters Nov. 27.
