Marvel's Eternals is set to be a game-changer since it's going to introduce god-like cosmic entities to the MCU and make us relate to them. One of the odder characters in the group will be Black Knight, played by white actor Kit Harrington, who many know as Jon Snow from Game of Thrones. Harrington has spoken out on the role he has and why it makes him nervous, though most of us know the answer.
During ACE Comic-Con in Chicago (via ComicBook.com), Harrington discussed how scary it can be playing a character who has a lot of history with fans in another medium. The fact that Harrington has to live up to everyone's expectations and break a few of them on the way has him terrified. The actor was also in Game of Thrones for 10 years so he knows a lot about fan expectations.
"A lot of people who go into something like the MCU, they haven't had experience of, maybe, a franchise that big. I've lived with Thrones for ten years, I've known a big franchise and something that's created a world and it has a huge fan base. So for both reasons, I'm excited and terrified. I know the responsibility of actors who came into Thrones knowing that they're playing a beloved character and that they had a responsibility to fans and to people to do something with that character. And for me, looking at this new universe, I'm prepared because I've been part of a universe... but I also have been part of a universe, so I am terrified."
We're sure that Harrington will do a decent enough job with his role and it's not like he is portraying the most well-known character ever. Let's face it, Black Knight is a d-list hero in Marvel Comics, even though he's had a number of adventures with the Avengers. Still, he seems to be taking this seriously and that should only lead to good things.
Marvel's Eternals is scheduled for release next year, on November 6, 2020.
