When you have a winning first movie, it's hard to promise following it up with a movie that's just as great—because the expectation is that you'd want to go beyond what you've delivered.
This doesn't seem to be a problem for Matthew Vaughn, director of Kingsman: The Secret Service and its sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Following a new look at the sequel, Vaughn and star Taron Egerton spoke with Entertainment Weekly to talk a little about the new movie.
According to Vaughn, they want to bring about a bigger movie, but one that doesn't just go with the formula.
"Just doing a sequel, you're kind of violating that promise of originality. Sequelitis is a plague I have no interest in contracting."
The actor also says that thanks to the first movie, he is able to feel a little less pressure this time. Ad based on the cast, he compares it to another upcoming blockbuster:
"If the first Kingsman was Captain America, then this is very much The Avengers now."
We're assuming this would be the Avengers: Infinity War, given the kind of hype, and what we're guessing to be a grand production.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle will be out in theaters on Sept. 29.
