King Charles is not letting his controversial son Prince Harry bring his drama to his coronation, a report says. Prince William's father reportedly made changes scrapping the Duke of Sussex's role in his special day after excerpts from his book Spare leaked.
King Charles Reportedly Removed Prince Harry's Role In Coronation After Spare
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a strained relationship with the royal family. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spoke about it in their interviews and Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. However, he took it to the next level in his book Spare, which excerpts leaked last week. The leak reportedly started from the Spanish version of the book, which was put on display in some bookstores days before its official release date.
Riya Nikkhah, a royal correspondent for The Sunday Times, gave updates about the King's coronation. In a tweet, she said that Prince Harry's role was removed.
Prince Harry "has been written out of the script for the Coronation, with no official role in the service if he attends," Nikkhah said.
The royal correspondent noted that Prince Harry and other individuals, who hold the title of duke, would play a role in the coronation on the traditional elements of the ceremony. However, King Charles reportedly decided to discard it, so Prince Harry would not play a role in his coronation.
"Breaking with tradition, Charles will scrap royal dukes kneeling and paying homage to the monarch. Only William will perform that role," she wrote, Insider reported.
"As things stand, there is no role for Harry in the service," an unnamed source told Nikkhah in the accompanying column for the newspaper.
How Did Prince Harry's Spare Affect King Charles, Royal Family?
The members of the royal family have maintained their silence amid the noise Prince Harry brings to the table with his memoir Spare. However, an unnamed source who spoke with Entertainment Tonight said "there is no trust left" between the Sussexes and the royal family.
The tipster said, "everyone remains wary" ahead of the release of Spare. Another source told ET that the book was "deeply upsetting" to His Majesty.
Prince Harry goes easy on his father in his memoir and targets Prince William, according to reports. However, the Insider said, he "still makes jabs at his father."
However, despite the drama, the monarch hopes they could fix their relationship.
