Kevin Feige Says Marvel Might Begin Developing Fox’s Mutant Properties Next Year

Yesterday word came out that Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox and its television and film assets would finally come to a close next month, and while the merger worries some, Marvel fans are anticipating the arrival of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and all of Fox's other mutants as they head towards the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now, according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the mutant superhero properties that the studio might acquire through the Fox deal may actually enter development next year.

Sitting down for an interview with Variety on the Playback podcast, Feige decided to touch on the topic of the arrival of the X-Men and Fantastic Four-based characters in the MCU, and apparently, the properties could begin development within the next six months.

"No," the Marvel President responded when asked by the publication whether he's started working with Fox-owned Marvel characters. "But we've been told it's looking very, very good and could happen in the first six months of next year."

This is pretty big news for Marvel fans. While the X-Men franchise has had its hits, there have been numerous misses, and fans have been hoping to see the mutants in better films in the MCU. Besides that, the prospect of having characters like Wolverine exchanging lines with heroes like Star-Lord and Drax is nothing but a source of excitement for the fanbase who can't wait to see what kind of chemistry might come out with the mix.

We can't wait to see what comes out of it.
