The upcoming Disney Play streaming service is going to get a lot of attention, with a number of original movies already announced, as well as the Star Wars live-action series The Mandalorian. Marvel is expected to have a big impact in this streaming service as well, with a number of the recent MCU movies reportedly coming to it, along with a number of rumored series' that has a lot of fans excited.
Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, recently discussed the app in The Hollywood Reporter and expressed his excitement over its possibilities. Since comics are an ongoing serial most of the time, Feige feels that a Marvel series showing in the service will feel more authentic to the comics and can explore characters in ways that the movies simply can't.
Fans of the Netflix-Marvel shows can testify to this since it allowed characters like Wilson Fisk to be complex individuals with understandable motivations. Most of the MCU villains are bland and two-dimensional, minus a few exceptions, so it's no surprise that the various Marvel shows give them more room to grow. With Disney Play coming out next year, we can only hope that they make our favorite heroes more interesting.
Currently, rumored shows for the Disney Play service include Loki, Scarlet Witch, and a team-up between Falcon and Winter Soldier. Many of us are also hoping that we get a revival of Luke Cage or Iron Fist, maybe even a Heroes for Hire series that features both characters into the mix.
