Ever since the first Avengers came out, we've been getting MCU expansion shows like Agents of SHIELD and Daredevil, but deep down every fan knew that there wasn't really any way that the films were going to reference the TV material. Now Marvel head Kevin Feige seems to have debunked the previous Marvel TV shows and says that the Disney+ shows will be the first time series to be connected to the main MCU films.
Talking to The Playlist, Feige explains, "It all, for the first time, will interlink. So, the MCU will be on your TV screen at home on Disney+ and interconnect with the movies and go back and forth. It's exciting to expand the MCU into even bigger and better heights."
While this may come as a bummer for fans who have followed the previous shows religiously, I like to look at it like Disney and the Star Wars universe, with the defunct material being dubbed as ‘Legends'. After all, just because it doesn't connect with the MCU doesn't mean that you didn't enjoy it.
If it's any consolation, there are rumors going around that Feige wants to do a "soft reboot" of some of the material that already came out with Marvel TV. Maybe we can see Daredevil find new life in the MCU, but for now, all we can really do is wait and see.
As it stands, the first MCU Disney+ show, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, is set to hit the streaming service sometime around the fall of 2020.
