Kevin Bacon Explains Why He Loves Doing Cameos As Himself

Marvel is no stranger to arranging special cameos, and with Kevin Bacon officially welcomed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the running franchise joke in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy brings Peter Quill’s most idolized actor on earth into the picture.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the Footloose star, Kevin Bacon, opens up how much he had been looking forward to this role. With great enthusiasm, he admits that while he takes his work seriously, he says the contrary about poking fun at himself to simply enjoy where he stands. Check out his full comment below:

“I’ve been researching this role for 64 years now. I’ve done quite a few things where I played myself, both in films, but also in commercial spots and stuff like that. And I take my work really, really seriously, but I don’t take myself really, really seriously. So to be able to poke fun at yourself… it’s just a blast. I love this kind of heightened idea of what my life is and like, for instance, the house that I have, I can guarantee you that my house doesn’t look anything like that house.”

While we have been used to the idea of MCU late comics author Stan Lee’s recurring cameos portraying different roles to indicate the connectedness of the MCU films, Kevin Bacon’s could also offer a similar role. In the case of Peter Quill’s admiration for the actor, Kevin Bacon could easily be brought back into the last adventure of the Guardians, which is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

For now, there are no official announcements on Kevin Bacon being a recurring appearance in future MCU films.

Are you excited to see Kevin Bacon in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special? The holiday special is set to be released on November 25 on Disney Plus.
