There has been a steady rise of horror anthology shows recently, and we've been getting some fantastic TV with Black Mirror and The Twilight Zone reboot. What's interesting is that Hulu also wants in on the horror-anthology shows and they've released the trailer for their upcoming Monsterland.

Here's the official description:

Encounters with mermaids, fallen angels, and other strange beasts drive broken people to desperate acts in Monsterland, an anthology series based on the collection of stories from Nathan Ballingrud's "North American Lake Monsters".

Like all anthology series that have been coming out, Monsterland has been able to nab a lot of great stars. You'll recognize Kelly Marie Tran as from Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Mike Colter from Netflix's canceled Luke Cage series. The show also has appearances from Kaitlyn Dever (Unbelievable), Taylor Schilling (Orange Is the New Black), and Roberta Colindrez (Vida).

I'll admit, I have no idea how Monsterland is going to set itself apart from other horror-anthology shows, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. With Black Mirror and The Twilight Zone keeping to very specific themes with their episodes, I'm sure Monsterland has something else in its connecting theme besides "lake monsters."

Personally, I'm just happy to see Kelly Marie Tran get more work because after what the Star Wars fans did to her after The Last Jedi, I think she deserves all the great roles she can get.

Catch Monsterland when all eight episodes drop on Hulu this coming Oct. 2.
