KCON 2022 is back to give K-pop fans the best festival again.

Since 2012, KCON has been bringing K-pop idols to different countries, especially in the US. Koreaboo launched the convention with the help of CJ E&M’s Mnet America.

During the same year, the creators launched KCON ’12 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, California. At that time, EXO-M, NU’EST, VIXX, BAP, 4Minute, and G.NA performed in front of 20,000 people.

It continued until the event was forced to create an alternative in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But as the number of cases started quieting down, the event will finally have its in-person show once again.

The official trailer of KCON 2022 revealed that the convention would have its first offline concerts in two years. It will start in Seoul (May 7 to 8) before jetting to Tokyo (May 14 to 15) and Chicago (May 20 to 21).

KCON 2022 Lineup

So far, KCON has only confirmed the guests for the KCON 2022 Premiere in Seoul. It assured that it would announce the lineups for Tokyo and Chicago this month as it promised to present different performing artists in each city.

In Seoul, MONSTA X, THE BOYZ, STAYC, Highlight, NMIXX, TO1, VIVIZ, LOONA, Brave Girls, WJSN, Kep1er, NiziU, and Hyolyn will reportedly grace the stage.

KCON Main Convention

After the three events, the main KCON conventions will happen in Los Angeles and Tokyo. As of press time, KCON 2022 LA is scheduled for August, while KCON 2022 Japan is set to occur in October.

Despite its decision to bring back an offline event, KCON pledged to continue its digital project, KCON:TACT, to allow fans from different countries to watch and participate online.

For what it’s worth, the project was initially launched in May 2020 to hold the event virtually through Mnet’s YouTube channel from June 20 to 26.

During that time, KCON offered four hours of the concert each day and a Meet and Greet. The second season of the event happened in October through KCON’s official YouTube channel.
