Kathleen Kennedy Talks About What Ron Howard Brought To Solo

Solo: A Star Wars Story might have recently wrapped up production, but fans still remember the big directorial shake-up that wrecked havoc on the spinoff's development earlier this year. Lucasfilm decided to fire original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller because of creative differences, and a week after they put Ron Howard in charge of the project.

In a recently updated interview with the Star Wars Show, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy talks about what Howard's been bringing to the movie, and why the studio's allowed the filmmaker to make periodic posts about Solo's production.

"We've never worked together but we've known each other a long time. And I think what Ron brought to the movie has just been wonderful, and he's so good with actors because that's something he's done his entire life."

Here's the Lucasfilm bigwig's comment on Howard's posts. Lucasfilm has always been keen on keeping its secrets, so it came as a surprise to many that the studio would allow their director to post photos and videos from Solo's set.

"I think there is a secrecy about what we do, and that's something we want to preserve. And we do that for ourselves and we do that for the fans. But there is also a real importance of letting people have an inside look as to what we're doing and experience the fun of what we're doing. And I think Ron really captured that and had fun with it.At the same time, we love the exchange that we get to have and that's what the fans have come to expect, is to have that kind of exchange where they can rely on the fact that we're going to play along."

Guess Kennedy really admits that they needed Howard to ease the fanbase's anxiety after the whole shake-up. So far the director's done a good job in calming everyone down, and we're eager to see what's become of the upcoming Star Wars spinoff.

Han Solo hits cinemas May 25, 2018.
