Kate Middleton has been named the new Princess of Wales, following the footsteps of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. Since they share the same royal title, it's not uncommon for the two women to be compared to each other.
Kate Middleton Doing Things Differently From Princess Diana?
But according to royal author Ingrid Seward, Kate Middleton couldn't be more different from Princess Diana. And even though it's only been two months since she assumed her new role, Prince William's wife is already showing signs that she's doing things differently from her mother-in-law.
"As the new Princess of Wales, the former Catherine Middleton has every enviable attribute. Like Diana, she is stunning to look at, has an amazing athletic figure, and dresses beautifully. She also has the glossy long hair of a fifties movie star, classic good taste, and a charming demeanor. She is almost perfect, but not so much so that you feel envy instead of admiration for her. Catherine has a way of getting children to respond to her, which is invaluable as the majority of her work revolves around the young or very young," Seward said (via Mirror UK).
Kate Middleton And Princess Diana Comparisons Are Flattering, Royal Author Claims
Seward said that comparisons with Princes Diana are flattering because the latter was an icon. But Middleton and Prince William's mom couldn't be more different from one another.
"It is flattering to be compared with an icon like Diana. But the two women are quite different. Catherine would not attempt to do things the Diana way. She will do them her way. She has the support of her husband and if things work as they hope they are trying to do a slightly different kind of royal engagement," she said.
Kate Middleton Is Confident In Her Role As Princess Of Wales?
Seward added that Middleton seems so confident with whatever it is that she's doing.
"When Catherine is working on her own, she has confidence in what she is doing but is subtle about it. She is unassuming, unpretentious, and real. She is the only person who could follow Diana and yet make a difference in a different way. Diana only felt happy when she was doing good, but to counteract her insecurity she giggled made wisecracks, and was self-deprecating. Catherine doesn't have to do this," she said.
Another source previously claimed that Middleton wants to carve her own path as the new Princess of Wales.
"[She] appreciates the history associated with this role, but will understandably want to look to the future as she creates her own path. The Prince and Princess of Wales will approach their roles in the modest and humble way they've approached their work previously. [The couple is also] focused on deepening the trust and respect of the people of Wales over time," the source said (via E! News).
