Kate Bush is currently experiencing newfound success after her hit 1985 single “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” resurgence, thanks to Stranger Things Season 4.

The song has also found a new generation of fans and is now dominating the music charts and streaming platforms. With this brand-new fame, how much is Kate Bush now earning from the song’s success and the net worth she has already made?

The Earlier Success of Kate Bush

The singer-songwriter debuted with her first single, “Wuthering Heights,” at 19 years old. The song quickly topped the U.K. charts and stayed there for a month.

This made her the first woman to take the number one spot with a song she wrote herself in the U.K., resulting in the rise of her career.

As of 2014, she has released ten albums, including The Kick Inside (1978), Never for Ever (1980), The Sensual World (1989), The Red Shoes (1993) and 50 Words for Snow (2011).

These albums gave birth to her most famous songs, like “The Man with the Child in His Eyes,” “Running Up That Hill,” and “King of the Mountain.” She has 25 songs that are charted on the Top 40 in the U.K.

Of course, she has also won several awards, like the Best British Female Solo Artist at the Brit Awards, and earned three Gramm Awards nominations. She also received the honorable Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 2013.

Kate Bush is the only woman who has charted albums in the top five in five straight decades in the U.K. as of 2014.

Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill Earnings

Kate Bush experiences a newfound success after Stranger Things Season 4 uses “Running Up That Hill” in one of the most important scenes in the show.

As she entirely owns the recording copyright of the song and its album, Hounds of Love, she solely gets its royalties. The song is not licensed to anyone, though Warner Music Group distributes the track, per SportsKeeda.

The song has about 57 million streams on Spotify, and per Music Business Worldwide, she earns over $200,000 in recorded music royalties in just one week. Mind you, this is just from one platform.

Twitter user @imshanereaction explained that when someone streamed a song on Spotify, the rights holder earned $0.03 to $0.05 from it, as of 2020.

So when “Running Up That Hill” was streamed over 57 million times, multiplied by $0.05, the result was more than $200,000 in one week.

It’s also good to note that the track is also streamed on other streaming platforms, like Amazon, Deezer, Apple, YouTube and radio play. Putting this into the account, she may earn £30 to £320 royalties daily.

No wonder Kate Bush has a net worth of $60 million today, per Celebrity Net Worth.
