We all thought that Quentin Trantino's next project would be the Star Trek movie that he's developing with J.J. Abrams, but it looks like he'd rather work on his Hollywood-based film starring Brad Pitt and Leondardo DiCaprio. Karl Urban, who plays Dr. McCoy in the Trek Kelvin timeline, opens up about Tarantno's involvement,
Talking to LRM, Urban says:
"Here's the thing - they're in the really early stages of development at this time. Quentin is about to direct his Hollywood film with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. You're talking about a film after film. Ultimately, at the end of the day, the ball's in Paramount's court. Hopefully, they'll green light another Star Trek movie. If they do it, then it'll be a lot of fun."
Though some people regarded Star Trek Beyond as an improvement over Into Darkness, the film still underperformed in the box office, and now the status of Trek 4 is currently a mystery.
Urban is very positive about Tarantino's involvement though, and is excited at the thought of a Trek movie directed by Tarantino:
"I think it's a really exciting idea. He is a dynamic filmmaker. Even if I wasn't in the Star Trek movie, I would go to a Star Trek movie by Quentin Tarantino. That's for sure."
No announcement has been made for Star Trek 4 but Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Once Up in Hollywood could possibly come out sometime in 2019.
