William Shatner Would Love to be in Tarantino's Star Trek

J.J. Abrams successfully rebooted Star Trek back in 2009, and even if they recast the main characters, they were still able to have Leonard Nimoy reprise his role of Spock. William Shatner, who played Kirk in the original series, is also eager for a comeback, and he says he would love to work on the Trek movie that Quentin Tarantino is developing alongside Abrams.

When asked by the Daily Mail if he would work on Tarantino's Trek project, Shatner said:

"Oh, lord yes. What an interesting role that was, and what it could be 50 years later. Captain Kirk is caught somewhere in the byways of the universe. Tarantino is a great director and I would love to work with him. [To appear] would be a wonderful thing. The fans have been so supportive."

Seeing that a most of the main cast of Trek had problems with type-casting after the show, you'd think that Shatner is officially done with the character; but the films have been great, and I think Shatner would want his small moment in the spotlight again.

With time-travel said to be an element that Tarantino wants to play with, I can imagine some scenarios where the older Kirk can appear. Maybe they make a jump to the future and end up going too far? Maybe Shatner can play an ancestor of Kirk from the past? We'll see what happens.

No official release date has been set for Tarantino's Trek movie, but fans sure are excited for the release.
