Deadline revealed that Ben Wang has entered talks to play the role of Iceman in Marvel Studios' highly anticipated X-Men reboot.

The rising star, who will be seen very soon in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, won the role after rounds of auditions and was in contention alongside three other young actors.

According to The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit, other actors who were also in the running are Gabriel LaBelle, The Penguin star Rhenzy Feliz, and Jackson Kelly. Wang ultimately won the role as his audition stood out the most.

In case you're not familiar with Wang's previous works, he also starred in last year's Karate Kid: Legends. He had supporting roles in Mean Girls and The Long Walk, and starred in the short-lived Disney+ series American Born Chinese.

Iceman (also known as Bobby Drake) is a founding member of X-Men in the comics. He is a mutant who has the ability to manipulate ice and cold by freezing water vapor around him. He can freeze objects and encase himself in ice. Shawn Ashmore played him in the Fox franchise.

Once Wang officially signs on to the project, he will be joining an ensemble led by Sadie Sink (as Jean Grey). More X-Men casting news is expected to come, as other roles are reportedly still being cast ahead of filming next year.
