News about Kanye West being dead made rounds online earlier this week, causing concern among fans around the globe. However, it has been confirmed that the death rumor is a complete hoax. Thankfully, the former husband of Kim Kardashian is alive and kicking!
Kanye West Death Hoax Spread On Facebook
Speculations about the alleged death of Kanye West came amid reports that the “Praise God” rapper is missing. Because of this, rumors of his demise also gained traction on Friday after a Facebook page named “R.I.P. Kanye West” garnered nearly one million likes.
Interestingly, the About page of the said Facebook page gave netizens a believable account of Kanye West’s alleged passing. It read:
“At about 11 a.m. ET on Friday (December 30, 2022), our beloved singer Kanye West passed away. Kanye West was born on June 8, 1977 in Chicago. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
Thousands of fans were quick to write messages of condolences on the Facebook page, expressing their sadness that Kanye West was supposedly dead. As per usual, the death hoax also spread like wildfire on Twitter.
While some trusting followers believed the death news, others were instantly wary, possibly having learned their lesson from the plethora of false celebrity death stories that have surfaced in recent months. Some pointed out that the news was not reported on any major American network, indicating that it was a hoax, as the death of a musician of Kanye West's renown would have been a huge story on all networks.
Kanye West Death Hoax Finally Debunked
On December 31, the representatives of Kanye West officially confirmed that Kanye West was alive and well. In a statement, they said:
“He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”
Some fans are outraged by the false claim, calling it irresponsible, disturbing, and harmful to the followers of Kanye West. Others think this demonstrates his worldwide appeal.
Why Is Kanye West Reported Missing?
The former business manager of Kanye west considers him “missing” after being unable to reach him for several weeks. Reports have it that Thomas St. John, Kanye West's top financial advisor for 18 months, is now suing him for nonpayment.
Court documents disclosed that Thomas St. John requested extra time to serve Kanye West with lawsuit papers since he could not find the musician. On the court records, Kanye West, commonly known as Ye, is mentioned as the defendant.
Thomas St John and his colleagues allegedly had trouble contacting Kanye West's legal counsel. The court filing said:
“We were advised about a new law firm for defendants, but not a specific point of contact. We subsequently learned of information in the news that the law firm identified as new counsel was not affiliated with the defendants. Accordingly, we have not been able to serve defendants through their counsel. As a general matter, we have had difficulty confirming the best current address of Kanye West.”
Kanye West has been embroiled in many controversies in recent months. In early December, his statements on Alex Jones's Infowars online show shocked his fans.
