South Korean stars IU and Lee Jong Suk shocked everyone with dating news as the year 2022 came to a close.
When Did IU And Lee Jong Suk Start Dating?
Dispatch, a South Korean publication known for breaking news and rumors about some of the most popular Hallyu stars, revealed on Saturday that IU and Lee Jong Suk have been dating for approximately four months. They reportedly started out as pals, who first met each other on the music program called Inkigayo almost a decade ago.
Eventually, the close friendship between IU and Lee Jong Suk turned into a romantic relationship.
Are IU And Lee Jong Suk Really In A Relationship?
The respective talent agencies of the South Korean stars were quick to address the dating news.
HighZium Studio, the agency of Lee Jong Suk, said in an official statement:
“Actor Lee Jong Suk and IU recently progressed from being close acquaintances into being a couple, and they are maintaining a serious relationship. Please show lots of support so they can continue their beautiful relationship. Thank you.”
EDAM Entertainment, on the other hand, spoke on IU’s behalf:
“IU and Lee Jong Suk recently progressed from being close acquaintances into a good relationship. We ask for the warm reception of fans.”
How Did IU And Lee Jong Suk’s Relationship Became Public?
Earlier on the day, Lee Jong Suk raised many eyebrows when he expressed gratitude toward an anonymous person during his acceptance speech at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards, where she won the Daesang (Grand Prize) award for his portrayal in the hit K-drama series titled Big Mouth.

The boyfriend of IU, during his intriguing acceptance speech, said:
“After completing my military service, I had a lot of worries, fears, and troubles plaguing me. But at that time, there was someone who helped me to find a good direction as a human being and to think positive thoughts. There’s something I really wanted to tell that person using this opportunity. I want to tell that person that I’m thankful to them for always being so admirable, that I’ve liked them a lot for a very long time, and that I respect and admire them greatly.”
Lee Jong Suk furthered:
“Seeing that person, I very often thought to myself, ‘I should have lived a little more diligently before now,’ or ‘I should have become a better person.’ I spent a lot of time reflecting on my past. I’m going to work harder in the future to become a better person.”
Both IU and Lee Jong Suk have yet to give personal statements about their confirmed romance.
