Miyuki is forced to deal with a French exchange student whose stress about the upcoming exchange event is contagious. Miyuki expresses dismay at the principal's lack of support, but Betsy rebukes him, insisting the principal treats them like his own children, and simply wants to test them and see if they will manage with minimal supervision. Betsy is also mortally afraid of Kaguya, and persuaded that the Shinomiyas are mafia members.
Miyuki goes to the principal with his concerns and finds out that Betsy was right. The principal believes that adults cannot always be trusted and that Miyuki should learn to resolve challenges independently and from the inside. He reveals that Kaguya's brother does, indeed, rule the school and that Miyuki will have to be prepared to protect her. But how?
