Netflix's Cowboy Bebop Stars Describe Their Characters

In just a few weeks, Netflix will finally release all 10 episodes of its live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, the genre-defying series based on Sunrise Inc's 26-episode anime series that aired in 1999. The series stars John Cho, Daniella Pineda, and Mustafa Shakir portraying the bounty hunters of Bebop in Spike Spiegel, Faye Valentine, and Jet Black respectively.

To hype up the series, the three actors shared their thoughts about their characters for the live-action Cowboy Bebop series during Netflix's TUDUM global fan event, and Cho kicked it off by breaking down Spike Spiegel, "Cool, lost, hungry? It's all about the suit, baby."

The next one was Mustafa Shakir, who described Jet Black as the father figure of the Bebop who would normally act as the glue holding everything together in the anime series.

"Obsessive, loyal, and a little stupid. Okay, okay. Not stupid. You know, he's so intelligent that he can be stupid? Myopic," Shakir said.

Cho added to this description, saying that Jet's "heart gets him in trouble. He doesn't see things that everyone else does because he loves too much."

When Pineda asked Cho who his favorite character other than Spike, he said that it's Faye Valentine, and explained why. "Her story is so interesting, so compelling, and her survival instincts just make for a really likable character," Cho said. "I mean, in scenes she's annoying."

Pineda went on to tease that there are many Easter eggs in the show, so fans better pay close attention when the show releases on Netflix next month.
