Former BIGBANG member Seungri received support from his fans, who defended him again following his prison release.

Seungri completed his one year and six months prison time following his involvement in the Burning Sun scandal. He originally had to serve three years following a guilty verdict, but the Supreme Court of South Korea minimized the sentence for showing guilt for his actions.

He formally completed his prison time on Feb. 11, but he was released prematurely. Upon his release, his fans have since expressed their love for the former idol.

Seungri Receives Love, Support From Fans

Korea JoongAng Daily reported that Seungri’s fans gathered online, especially on Twitter, and trended several hashtags to support the former BIGBANG member.

Among the words that dominated the platform include JUSTICE FOR SEUNGRI, #SeungrisRealStory and #SeungriWeWaited. They have been defending the former K-pop idol and insisted that he was wrongfully accused and suffered during the “unfair trial.”

The posts online explained that Seungri only served as the CEO of the Burning Sun club but never released any “immoral videos” as the other infamous stars — including Jung Joon Young — did. They also explained that there were different cases and categorized them under “Seungri Case,” “Jung Joon Young’s Molka Case,” and the exact “Burning Sun Case.”

“We are a diverse group of people of all ages, genders, professions and nationalities, each with a personal history about how we came to know and support Seungri,” the VVIP international fan group on Twitter wrote.

One of the members of VVIP said they still support Seungri since he is “entitled to basic human, civil and constitutional rights.” They also said that they disagree that he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
