We've all heard stories about Joss Whedon's on-set behavior during the Justice League reshoots and the "horror" some of the cast members — most notably Ray Fisher and Gal Gadot had to go through while filming the theatrical cut. For the longest time, the director of the MCU's first two Avengers films has kept mum about the controversy surrounding his alleged misconduct but now, Joss is finally breaking his silence to defend himself against critics.

In a new interview with New York Magazine, Whedon lambasted the Justice League cast and described them as some of the rudest people he's ever worked with in his long career. He went on to dismiss Fisher's testimony about his demeanor while filming, saying that the Cyborg star is a "bad actor in both senses". As for his issues with Gadot, Whedon claims that it was all just a misunderstanding because "English is not her first language".

Lastly, the ever-so-controversial director said that he was asked to take over for Zack Snyder because Warner Bros. was already losing faith in his vision for the DCEU.

I think I speak for a lot of DC Extended Universe fans when I say that Zack Snyder's Justice League is definitely one of the biggest accomplishments in comic book cinema and that statement is far from being an over-exaggeration. Following the divisive theatrical cut that seemingly felt like the final nail in the coffin of the franchise, the collective forces of Snyder and the film's cast were able to craft something that is night and day compared to what Warner Bros. tried to feed fans. It's just a shame that the studio failed to see it.

Zack Snyder's Justice League is available for streaming on HBO Max.
