After years of failing to live up to its hype, the DC Extended Universe is said to be undergoing massive changes under the leadership of Warner Bros. Discovery's David Zaslav. So far, we still don't know what the merger has in store for the franchise but a slew of new projects could be on the way, including a rumored follow-up to Justice League.

According to a new scoop from Giant Freakin Robot, Justice League 2 is moving forward. However, fans of Zack Snyder might be disappointed as the outlet's source claims that WB Discovery has a different director in mind to helm the project and that's none other than The Flash filmmaker Andy Muschietti.

The specifics regarding the project were not disclosed so it begs the question: will it be a direct sequel to Joss Whedon's theatrical cut or is David Zaslav set to acknowledge the SnyderVerse as the main DCEU continuity as previously rumored? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Of course, just like any rumor, it's still best to take this one with a grain of salt. As it stands, WB Discovery's long-term plan for the franchise has yet to be revealed and if anything, we're still uncertain when exactly the changes are going to be felt.

Hopefully, Zaslav is truly committed to bringing credibility back to the DCEU and he actually hires people who have their fingers on the pulse. I mean, at the end of the day, making the fans happy should be their top priority and sadly, the old regime was notorious for turning a blind eye on what the fandom wants.

In other DCEU news, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam is set to hit cinemas on October 21, 2022.
