There's no denying that Henry Cavill has had a rocky relationship with Warner Bros. and DC Films and despite being the face that launched the DC Extended Universe nearly a decade ago, the Superman actor has barely appeared in the franchise. Original plans called for Cavill to star in his own Man of Steel trilogy, apart from other team-up projects but the studio seemingly got cold feet about it.

Now, the new Warner Bros. Discovery merger led by David Zaslav has given fans renewed hope that the DCEU will finally be able to realize its true potential. Zaslav is said to be committed to restoring order in the franchise that has long been plagued with questionable creative decisions and if the reports are to be believed, the executive wants to reestablish Superman as the premiere superhero of the franchise.

Speaking of, it looks like WB Discovery is finally giving fans what they've been demanding all these years and that is the follow-up to Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. According to DC scooper Syl Abdul, Man of Steel 2 is finally moving forward at the studio with Snyder set to ink a major deal in 2023.

Assuming the rumored project gets announced next year, it would be very fitting since it marks 10 years since the original Man of Steel hit theaters. Of course, it's hard to get excited this early since nothing has been officially confirmed yet and there have been conflicting reports regarding Cavill's DCEU status but I have faith that WB Discovery has its finger on the pulse.

Man of Steel is available for streaming on HBO Max.
