Since its June 10 release, Jurassic World: Dominion (2022) has made just shy of $1 billion at the global box office. While it has been torn apart by critics, fans are clearly loving the latest film in the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World franchise.

Now, Universal Pictures has unveiled the release date for the digital and physical copy of the film, which has been confirmed as August 16 - exactly one week from today, and only two months following its theatrical debut.

However, it comes with a big twist. Jurassic World Dominion is already 2 hours and 26 minutes in length, but a new "extended" cut will feature an additional 14 minutes of previously unseen footage!

So the Blu-ray and 4K UHD physical release, as well as the digital version, will come with said-deleted scenes, which will be included in the actual film itself to bring you even more dinosaur mayhem than the theatrical cut.

It has also been reported that the release will include the Colin Trevorrow-directed Battle at Big Rock (2019), the short canonical film that served as a "micro" sequel to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018).

As for the 14 minutes of extra footage, this will feature the Jurassic World Dominion prologue that was released last year. Colin Trevorrow previously stated that this was originally intended to be part of the theatrical cut.

Jurassic World: Dominion is described as the "epic culmination to the entire series" and the "end to the Jurassic era". As per the official Jurassic World: Dominion website, here’s the synopsis for the film:

From Jurassic World architect and director Colin Trevorrow, Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.

Jurassic World Dominion, from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, propels the more than $5 billion franchise into daring, uncharted territory, featuring never-seen dinosaurs, breakneck action and astonishing new visual effects.
